Kelimutu National Park is located on the island of Flores, in Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. It consists of a region with hills and mountains, with Mount Kelibara (1,731 m) as its highest peak. How To Get There
From Labuan Bajo airport (LBJ), you need to take a local flight to Ende Airport (ENE). Continue with around 2 hour car drive to Moni the closest village to Kelimutu. Another car drive is needed from Moni to Kelimutu, continue with 30 minutes walk to Kelimutu peak (30 minutes) following a gravel path that takes you to the summit and the three beautiful lakes at Kelimutu.
From Ende, go to the nearest public bus station, and take a bus for 'Maumere/Wolowaru' and ask the driver to stop in Moni.
From Labuhanbajo, go to the nearest public bus station to Ende, the trip to Ende can take all day (probably with this route: labuhan bajo bus station - Ruteng - Bajawa - Ende). And in Ende bus station continue with a bus to 'Maumere/Wolowaru' and ask the driver to stop in Moni.
And bus from Maumere - Moni is around 3 -4 hour trip.
You can have a private taxi from Ende airport/hotel, or share it with other travelers going the same way with you, or arrange a shared/private taxi with your hotel/tour operator.

The indigenous of Ende and Moni are one of the ethnics in Flores. They area known as Lio-Ende people. They are friendly & open to visitors.
Lio-Ende people also have their own language & tradition. Ende was the site of a kingdom that existed around the end of 18th century. Rebellion against the Dutch was led by a certain Nipa Do known as the wars of Watu Api and Mari Longa (1916-1917). Ende name itself in ancient literature is called Independent or Ynde.
