The Minangkabau adat was derived from animist and Hindu-Buddhist beliefs before the arrival of Islam. .Minang people are quite expressive and friendly people.
The Minangkabau are the largest matrilineal society in the world, with property, family name and land passing down from mother to daughter, while religious and political affairs are the responsibility of men, although some women also play important roles in these areas. One of the most delicious food in the world, 'Rendang' a spicy meat dish cooked with herbs and coconut milk until it dries, originated from the Minangkabau ethnic group and is now commonly served across the country.
